Abstract
CDSSs (clinical diagnostic support systems) are computer-based programs that can aid physicians in various tasks, including diagnostics. Promedas is a novel CDSS that is able to suggest diagnoses through the filling in of lab data and symptoms. Its efficacy was assessed in four short tests. In the first, its performance on archived clinical cases was assesed. The second compared Promedas with an established CDSS. The third test involving a panel of physicians to assess whether Promedas performs well both in top diagnosis and top 5 diagnosis and overall improved the amount of correct clinical diagnosis. The final test involved the use of Promedas by students. This report describes the assessment tests and analyzes the results (which are not disclosed in this public abstract). It concludes with some advices based on the assessment results.
