ICIS (Interactive Collaborative Information Systems) is one of the nine ICT projects that were selected for funding by the BSIK program of the Dutch government in the fall of 2003.

The aim of ICIS is to develop better techniques for making complex information systems more intelligent and supportive in decision making situations. One of the novel aspects of this project is the focus on Actor-Agent Communities, collections of highly interoperable people and autonomous artificial entities united by a common purpose. The ICIS consortium regards this focus as essential for the development of the next generation of information systems.
